Professional Community for Automotive Marketers, Car Dealers, OEM and Suppliers
I started my career in Digital Marketing as a Govt. Consultant for a firm in Tallahassee, FL., and became the Palm Beaches most innovative nightclub marketer. Eventually I settled down and worked in the OEM Manufacturing field where I had no clue this whole market even existed.
I learned from very smart engineers about how to build the components and how they work in pretty much every car that has a screen. The one thing I didn't get was a good learning about marketing. So I researched everything I could about Automotive Marketing but none of it made sense.
I came across this website / pdf - http://www.google.com/think/research-studies/zmot-auto-study.html - and it changed the way I thought about Marketing because it wasn't about the sale it was about the process it took to make the sale and all the steps involved.
In that process I created very niche blog/websites or as I call them "Venus Fly Traps" to better engage the customers but also to use as a content strategy. Although my former company did not encourage marketing what so ever, I continued to see the results from content but also from Path Marketing, truly understanding what your customers are looking for on the web.
I highly recommend you visiting this site and just learning as much as you can - http://www.google.com/think/research-studies/zmot-auto-study.html
