Automotive Professional Blog, Community and Magazine Site Traffic

Unique Visitor chart from Compete, Inc. showing last 12 months of traffic activity to the ADM Professional Community, Jeff Kershner's DealerRefresh, Jared Hamilton's DrivingSales, Brian Pasch's Dealer SEO and Digital Dealer Magazine's online version.

The five web sites charted above are:
1. www.AutomotiveDigitalMarketing.com (also accessible by http://ADMPC.com and http://ADM.fm)
2. www.DealerRefresh.com from Jeff Kershner and Alex Snyder
3. www.DrivingSales.com from Jared Hamilton and his venture capitalist resources
4. www.Dealer-SEO.com from Brian Pasch and serving to promote Pasch Consulting Group
5. www.DigitalDealer-Magazine.com a commercial publication from Mike Roscoe and Dealer Communications

The first three are included because they are the leading supplier-independent online sites designed to provide Internet Sales Managers and Car Dealers with high value information, files and networking contacts that will enhance their business mission capabilities.

Although Brian Pasch's Dealer-SEO site has a purely commercial focus on driving business to Pasch Consulting Group, I felt that there is enough freely available high value content there to include it in this chart, and to make the chart more interesting.

Digital Dealer Magazine has recently ceased shipping a paper based version to subscribers, thus becoming a purely online publication, so I included their site out of relevant interest to most ADM Professional Community members. My intent is to publish the above chart as supplied by Compete, Inc. each month with sites #4 and #5 rotating, or staying the same, depending upon what is interesting and the changing landscape of sites that provide automotive professionals with tools, insights, knowledge and industry contacts.

@Brian - Each month I use the Compete, Inc. professional upgrade tool that they so generously provide me with so I can share it's value with dealers, to try and identify the 5 most popular web sites that Internet Sales Managers, Dealers and automotive professionals use to share information, files and networking contacts with each other. By far, AutoNews.com and WardsDealer.com have the most unique visitors, but they are not "Grass Roots" sites like DealerRefresh, ISMinTraining, ADMPC.com and several others like them. I know that DrvingSales.com is a 100% commercial website enterprise with venture capital backing and a defined business plan that will eventually produce a profit, but it still reflects the vision of Jared Hamilton, who I respect enough to include in the measurement until such time as Jared loses control, which I hope never happens. The problem I run into is that there is such a gap in traffic volumes between the Ward's and Automotive News type sites, the 3 ISM/Dealer homegrown (sort of) sites (DealerRefresh, ADMPC and DrivingSales, and the 3rd tier if sites like ISMinTraining, ISMtoday and dozens of others that get less than 2,000 unique visitors each month that the chart would embrrassing to the least trafficked site of almost any 5 I select. So, I always include DealerRefresh, ADMPC and DrivingSales and play around with #4 and #5. Each of these sites is different, which is why they all have value, but Brian, and I mean this with all sincerity, this is not a competition, it is simply another perspective of looking at the space the sites, including yours occupies. I almost did not include yours because your site is so focused on promoting your business, but you have enough valuable content that it is a resource for myself and many others.

If I had to describe what we called in Vegas the "Big 3" of automotive internet sales and marketing blogs and communities that DealerRefresh, ADMPC and DrivingSales make up that is different from yours and many other sites, it is that these three sites are not PRIMARILY focused on promoting a specific business, dealership or supplier... For the most part. Yes, DealerRefresh accepts advertising, but that is an established funding model and I have not heard of Jeff Kershner turning away any advertisers out of some type of bias or favoritism. DrivingSales is certainly influenced by their lead advertisers that provide the most revenue, but other than a few exceptions that are almost inevitable, Jared seems to maintain pretty good control over blocking undue or consistently pervasive advertiser influence on editorial content. The ADMPC site is truly independent and despite what some may believe, my employer ADP has implemented a "hands off" policy and exerts zero influence on ADM content or editorial... Other than my own personal biases originating from an insider's view and my personal and sometimes emotional attachment to the people and services my team at ADP delivers to dealers and OEM's. However, I try to maintain as objective a perspective as possible, and there is ZERO censorship of any competing automotive supplier content within ADM... After all, I have been around long enough to know that today's competition could become tomorrow's acquisition, employer or business partner!

The ADMPC site is a non-profit enterprise, possibly the only one of the three and the only ad revenue comes from Google AdSense placements, which is barely enough to cover the hosting and application license fees. Any surplus ad revenue goes into a separate account and is then used to pay for an occasional ADM member reception when there is enough. My objective would be to at some point use the ADM Professional Community as a foundation to build a true non-profit formally chartered organization that serves its members by providing tools for professional growth and advancement.

So, your Dealer-SEO.com is included in the 4th slot because of my personal respect for you and the information you so freely and wisely share with all of us here on ADM. And, this is VERY important, because of the wonderful contributions you make to the ADMPC.com site through blog articles, comments and forum discussions. Although I suspect a lot of it is simply for SEO benefits to your properties, it is a small price to pay to get your high value content within the ADMPC.com site. Your work as an authorized ADMPC.com admin is greatly appreciated and I hope will continue to drive your personal contributions to this community.
