Auto Parts Suppliers Fall under OSHA’s Focus

Due to hazards associated with the auto-parts-supplier industry, OSHA has launched a Regional Emphasis Program (REP) to improve conditions. The inspection program will last through January 2015, and will cover Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi.

Most auto-parts suppliers can expect a comprehensive OSHA inspection within the next two years. Inspections will begin 30 days after notification letters have been mailed to applicable employers. At this point employers can contact their personal Environment and Safety consultants for onsite visits, or can contact OSHA’s consultation service providers. Any consultations provided by OSHA will be independent from the inspections and will not result in penalties, only education.

If you fall under the Southeastern region and will be visited by OSHA, you can prepare for the inspection by:

  • Ensuring that your illness record-keeping forms are current, accurate, and readily available.
  • Reviewing your written programs. They must be:
    • Up-to-date
    • Compliant and consistent with the floor plan.
    • Ensuring that training is current and documented.
    • Ensuring that employees are following company policies and training.

If you need help preparing for your OSHA inspection, contact your KPA engineer or contact info@kpaonline.com.

It’s big news! If all the auto-parts suppliers are being inspected then we’ll get only the authorized parts and that way no supplier could fraud with us. Though I already do deal with an authorized dealer of used parts which offers me great deals. The place is called http://buyusedengine.com/index.php. If you’re about to purchase any used parts, consider this one or just have a look here! You’ll love it for sure.

Interesting article. A good friend of mine is looking to partner with groups like yours @ http://www.csem.com/training/types/osha-training. Give him a ring!
