AdAgencyOnline.Net is a free automotive advertising resource / networking portal with a growing audience of automotive advertising agencies, auto industry vendors and auto dealers who rely on the online community to surface and review cutting edge auto industry focused applications for their consideration.
Philip Zelinger, the President of Ad Agency Online, L.L.C. and host of AdAgencyOnline.Net, will review VinSolutions.Com, a product of VinStickers, L.L.C. on his blog talk radio show “Lunch With Phil Discussing Automotive Advertising” scheduled Monday, February 2nd, 2009 between 12:00 Noon and 12:30 PM EST. The show is an open business meeting featured on the Blog Talk Radio station – WAAOL, All Automotive Advertising News All The Time – hosted by AdAgencyOnline.Net.
Automotive advertising agencies, the auto dealer/vendor clients of Ad Agency Online, L.L.C. and web surfers looking for the “inside story” on the auto industry tune into Philip’s live online interviews with decision makers from select automotive advertising vendors to listen, learn and to share best practices in a problem / solution format.
This week’s guests are Douglas Kinney, C.E.O. and Matt Watson, C.T.O. of VinSolutions. In advance of the show Douglas provided Philip with information on VinSolutions coupled with a lengthy disclaimer describing it as a “forward looking overview” confiding that the auto industry is very volatile and no one can accurately predict the future. That said, Philip’s experience as a General Manager and Auto Dealer Principal for 25 plus years, followed by his last ten years as a decision maker in the automotive advertising industry, confirmed their assertions which prompted him to forward the following excerpt to his affiliated automotive advertising agencies and auto dealer/vendor clients in advance of their scheduled interview on WAAOL.
“The automobile industry is on the cusp of a paradigm shift, and technology is the juggernaut crushing dealers who resist. The era of family-owned dealerships doing business with their neighbors on a handshake is long past. Today’s dealer can market to anyone with Internet access: no territories, no physical boundaries, no limits.”
“According to NADA, over 80 percent of consumers use the Internet to research vehicles before they buy, and J.D. Power & Associates say “52 percent of all shoppers who credit the Internet with leading them to the vehicle they purchased indicate a dealer site as the primary online source.” Not only has the method of buying a car changed, but the motivation has as well. Price, rather than loyalty, drives the 21st Century market place, and educated consumers set the course. Dealers who embrace this reality, and harness the burgeoning Internet market will not only survive the imminent upheaval, they will dominate the new landscape. VinSolutions assists dealerships in centralizing their Internet marketing efforts. Using VinSolutions’ suite of integrated modules, dealers will market, brand, and sell more vehicles in the virtual marketplace.”

The management team at VinSolutions includes Mike Dullea, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer; Matt Watson, Chief Technical Officer and Doug Kinney who joined the VinStickers team in June of 2007 as Chief Operating and Financial Officer and assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer in September of 2007.
About Doug Kinney
Doug Kinney is 53-years old. He earned a BS degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting from Central Missouri State University. Doug began his career in public accounting nearly 30 years ago. He entered the private sector five years later, and made his career in the automotive industry. Beginning as a business manager, he rose through the ranks to become a general manager, and managing partner/dealer. He has managed stores in California, Texas, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. Doug brings his intimate knowledge of dealership operations to VinStickers, and is helping to make VinStickers the pre-eminent automotive e-business provider in the world. He is a member of the VinStickers Board of Directors.
About Mike Dullea
Mike Dullea is 44-years old. He earned a BS degree in Marketing from the University of Minnesota. Serving as VP of Strategic Alliances for Sprint e-Solutions, and VP of Sales and Marketing for Sprint e-Solutions and Rexel Datacom for over 20 years, Mike has a keen understanding of salesmanship and the importance of creating synergies between industry partners. He brings valuable automobile industry experience to the group as well, having worked as an Internet manager, Internet director, general sales manager, and general manager before founding AES Consulting in 2005. Along with VinSolutions, Mike co-developed MotoSnap, a web-based line of software products specifically designed to meet the needs of automotive professionals. AES Consulting was acquired by VinStickers in February 2007. Mike is a member of the VinStickers Board of Directors.
About Matt Watson
Matt Watson is 27-years old. He attended DeVry University for computer Information Systems and is a Microsoft Certified Application Developer. Matt is the lead architect of all VinSolutions applications. He has over seven years of web application development experience using Microsoft technologies. Prior to his work at VinStickers, Matt developed the online ticket exchange program used by hundreds of ticket agencies worldwide. He also worked in the health care industry for four years as a lead developer. He has experience with many large-scale database architecture applications. Matt is a member of the VinStickers and ESP Data Solutions, Inc. Boards of Directors.
Debuting in Overland Park, Kansas in 2003, VinSolutions is a suite of products offered by VinStickers, LLC. VinStickers began much like VinSolutions, as a product offered by ESP Data Solutions, Inc. in 2001. In February 2006, VinStickers became an LLC. in its own right. The VinSolutions products were created by the VinStickers executives to address a growing need.
According to Automotive News dealership census data there were 21,761 new car franchises in the United States at the start of 2007. Currently, VinStickers controls three percent of that market. Because VinSolutions is marketed in modules, dealers can pick and choose which of the products they want at any given time. If they are locked into a five-year contract with Reynolds and Reynolds for their CRM service, the dealer can still select their ILM, Inventory, On-the-Lot, or Do-It-Yourself modules to interface with their Reynolds CRM. Once a dealer has experienced the seamless simplicity inherent in all of their modules, it is anticipated that he will round out his portfolio of VinSolutions products and services as quickly as possible.
Within 24 months, according to Pro Forma calculations provided by Douglas Kinney, VinStickers will be servicing five percent of the 21,761 available franchised dealers. This two percent represents an increase of approximately 100 percent in their customer base. The increase is expected to come as a result of an expansion in their sales department, and aggressive marketing of their CRM module. Doug confirmed that they will continue forming strategic alliances with niche market companies such as DealerTrack and Route One, thus enabling them to provide more comprehensive services for their shared dealer clients. Each alliance they form promises to provide them a broader client base from which to pull.
Sample Market Scenario Provided By VinSolutions
The brain of a dealership is its Dealer Management System (DMS). Everything from accounting and financial functions, vehicle and parts inventories, service and customer records, F & I information, to communications with the factory are housed in the DMS server. Companies like Reynolds & Reynolds, ADP, and AutoSoft provide DMS services. The larger DMS service providers, like Reynolds and Reynolds and ADP, also provide data management services such as CRM and ILM products.
VinStickers competes in the data management market with the VinSolutions suite of products. The heart of the suite is MotoSnap, the CRM module; the ILM module, and the Inventory module. They are fully integrated, communicating with one another each time a user performs a function. Feeding into the Inventory module are the On-the-Lot and Do-It-Yourself modules. The CRM module pulls information from the DMS (i.e. new and used vehicle inventory, customer and service related data) for use in creating sales materials, working car deals, and customer follow up. Each module can be purchased separately; however, when acquired as a whole, they turn sterile data into life-giving sales.
