4 Awesome Technologies that Help You Avoid Car Accidents

Recently, manufacturers have opted to install more advanced safety features into cars that help prevent accidents. Some of these features come automatically in certain cars or are available as options in others. Here is a list of awesome technological features that have entered the market to help prevent and minimize accidents and injuries.

Forward Collision

While this technology is not yet standard, it is becoming more and more common in vehicles. Forward Collision systems are designed to use an array of sensors to detect when an accident is impending and stop the car before it happens. For instance, if you’re driving on the highway and traffic slows suddenly, this system can engage the breaks for you. This kind of technology has a lot of potential to reduce high-speed accidents. While the systems can’t prevent 100% of all accidents, they can definitely lower chances of injury or death by slowing impacts. Forward Collision systems are designed for emergency purposes, so it’s important that drivers don’t rely on it to stop them in every situation.

Lane Departure Detection

Like Forward Collision, Lane Departure Detection systems aren’t included in all vehicles but are gaining popularity. These systems use sensors to define the lanes on the road and make sure you don’t stray. Some systems will issue a simple sound alert when you get out of your lane, and others can manipulate the steering wheel to correct the drift. Each manufacturer’s system will be slightly different, but all of them are a great asset for drowsy and distracted drivers who would otherwise present a danger to others.

Turning Headlights

Night driving has long been more dangerous and problematic for a number of reasons. Chief of which is visibility. Some car companies have started implementing automated turning headlights to help with this problem. These headlights generally turn to about 45 degrees in either direction and are synced with the steering wheel. Turning around corners can be especially dangerous in the dark, but turning headlights track to illuminate where you will be turning so you don’t run into anything.

Blind Spot Detection

Many accidents occur because it can be difficult to see around a blind spot. With this kind of detection system, the car will let the driver know when someone is driving within his or her blind spot. In most cases, the detection sensors are installed in the side mirrors. In other cars, the detection system will actually prevent the driver from switching lanes until the other car has passed.

Even with this technology, accidents can still occur. If someone is involved in a car accident, then he or she should call a car accident attorney immediately. When that individual has one of more of these particular technologies installed in the car, then it can be easier for an attorney to defend the individual in court. If someone is considering purchasing a car, consider installing these new and innovative systems.
