3 Quick Tips To Get Faster SEO Results For Your Website

Everyone wants fast SEO results.  Who doesn’t?

Let’s discuss the three quickest and easiest ways to get SEO results. Along with a few tips on how to implement them in your overall marketing strategy.

Most people think of keywords when they think of SEO; this skims the surface.

You cannot deny the impact SEO has on today’s marketing landscape.

Let’s start by giving a precise definition of what SEO is:

What is SEO?

SEO represents Search Engine Optimization.

SEO is how you increase the number of visitors to your website by ensuring that it is higher ranked in search engine results pages (SERPs) for specific longtail keywords and keywords.

For example, if your company is selling green tea as an online e-commerce store, how do you get your e-commerce on the first page of the search results when people search for “green tea” or “buy green tea.”

Today, there are several ways to help your site ranks highly in the SERPs. One of the best ways is to build backlinks to your site from other websites. This is called creating a backlink profile.

A blog on your website is another excellent way to ensure that your site ranks well.  You need to create quality, shareable, educational or entertainment content on a regular and consistent basis. This is content marketing.

With any website, it is critically necessary to ensure that your site is optimized for the various search engines. This is called “onsite SEO” and typically requires the aid of a software tool that crawls your entire site looking for problems that search engine bots may encounter.

You can read a more in-depth article on what SEO is and how it impacts your search results rankings here.

Does SEO Matter, Why?

The process of optimizing a website and continually be adding high-quality content is the best way to perform well in organic search results and drive SEO results.

This is how your content gets noticed, and how companies and brands end up on the first page of search engines like Google.

We’ve created a list of the SEO Facts – The Elements Required to Rank Any Page on Search Engines to get you started:

The impact of SEO is tremendous as is the competition.  Did you know that:

  • 100 billion searches a month are done on Google
  • 96% of clicks go to the top 4 results on page 1
  • SEO has an average a 14.6% close rate, while outbound leads (paid advertising) average a 1.7% close rate

SEO is a critical element of any marketing plan as consumers are using search engines. If you want your website, product or services to be found, your content needs to rank high on search engines.

What Factors Drive the Highest SEO Results?

If only SEO were a straight line, it’s not.

There isn’t one single, precise answer to climbing to the top of Google’s page 1 list.

Google looks at approximately 200 factors when determining the ranking websites.

Google’s has changed its algorithm 500-600 times a year, overall most of these changes are minor in scope.

And not all ranking factors are created equal.

A handful have stood the test of time and is the most effective at increasing SEO results.

According to Andrey Lipattsev, Search Quality Senior Strategist at Google, the most critical factor “is content. And it’s links pointing to your site.”

Let’s take a deeper dive into these critical points:

Quality Content is the Backbone of SEO Results

This may seem like common sense.

It is critical to create quality content and more of it than your competition and assure that each page is fully optimized for SEO.

Quality content attracts and resonates with more readers and your target audience, it also gives you a competitive edge on your competition – and with search engines.

So How Do You Get SEO Results?

The first step is to ensure that your copy is unique on every page.

This means you are not copying and duplicating content from other sites or ‘skyscraping’ it from other sources.  All of your copy needs to be original and in your voice.

Google had this to say about it in March:

According to Google Search Quality Evaluator Guidelines, it is “Important: The Lowest rating is appropriate if all or almost all of the MC (main content) on the page is copied with little or no time, effort, expertise, manual curation, or added value for users. Such pages should be rated Lowest, even if the page assigns credit for the content to another source.”

A low rating from Google does nothing positive for your SEO results.

The 2nd element of successful SEO content that drives SEO ranking is to focus on long-form 10X content.

I hear you, you’ve read that Google has stated that there is no minimum length of content to rank high on Google, and the focus should be on quality over content.

The Ultimate Guide to 10x Content - Avg Content Length - SEO Results

SEO Results

Backlinko studied the length of content that generated the highest ... that the average first-page result on Google contains 1,890 words.  The longer the content with the highest quality reaps the rewards of SEO.

This is because longer text gives the ability to include quality keywords, long tail keywords, and content giving Google far more to work with.

Quality content includes facts, stats and FAQ’s; you want to develop your content with this in mind.

This helps establish yourself as an expert in your chosen field and industry to your target audience while sending a signal to Google that your company can provide high-quality, well-researched content that answers the searchers intent and questions.

Now you need to ensure all the elements on your pages and posts are optimized. That means schema, heading, images, links, titles and meta tags.

Page elements such as images and tags offer incredible opportunities to include keywords.

It is clear to Google knows what the page should rank for.  You do this with keyword research and usage coupled with link anchor text.

Its easy today to check a page for length and keyword usage with tools such as  Link-Assistant.

How to Build Backlinks From Press and Quality Content for SEO

If you know even the very basic about SEO, you are aware the significant role link building play in your site’s overall performance.

Search engines use links to find new pages and decide how high these pages should rank in their search results.

The Backlinko’s study found that the number of domains linking to a page was directly correlated to rankings more than any other factor in the 200 elements Google looks at.

Backlinks from quality websites are seals of approval or votes of confidence in favor of your content.

The more backlinks linking to your content, the higher your content marketing efforts and content will rank in search engines.

Be aware that there is a high emphasis on quality sources; attempting to manipulate or spam search engines with black hat SEO tactics will get your website either banned or demoted in search results as Google has cracked down on sites that do.

How To Build BackLinks For SEO Results

The best ways are to promote and amplify your content.

There are several ways to do this that range from social networks, email marketing, reaching out to journalists, and native advertising.

A method that I like to utilize is to reach out to influencers even when you’re nobody in your niche and leave comments on their blog and content using a link to your website when and where it’s appropriate.

Good, quality educational content that is relevant thought leaders and influencers will be likely to link back to it incorporating a link and proper anchor text into their content.

As a result, a blog that is active, adding new content averages 97% more inbound links than one that is stale and out of date.

Keep in mind; this will take time.

If you want to simplify the backlink build process, consider using tools such as Pitchbox.

What Pitchbox does is aid in automatic outreach and the link-building process. Pitchbox finds and identifies relevant bloggers, publishers, and influencers and sends customized outreach emails and follow-up emails.

Pitchbox also identifies competitor’s backlinks, giving you insight into the competitor’s strategy along with the kinds of content they link to.

I guarantee you that you will find unlinked mentions of your website as you get going with updating the SEO on your site.  An unlinked mention is when someone has mentioned you (or a client) in their content without giving you the backlink.

A competent SEO practitioner will look for all unlinked mentions using a simple Google search.

A quick way to do this is use Google search using your brand name with “-site” added, then watch what turns up in the search results.  Another way to be alerted about unlinked mentions is to set up a Google Alert for your brand name.

There are paid tools available that are designed to help uncover unlinked mentions such as Mention.net and Buzzsumo.

Having identified theses unlinked mentions, now it’s sending an email to these sites and asking them to add a backlink to your site.

Ar great way to build quality backlinks is to get press coverage of your content, product or service.

Press mentions are fantastic for SEO.  These create a backlink directly to your companies website, and most press coverage is syndicated today, resulting in hundred of additional backlinks.

Using tools such as HARO and Cision getting journalists and news outlets to notice is far less complicated today and can be done in two weeks, with a little hustle and diligence.

HARO is a platform where reporters submit requests for quotes, stories, data, content and other that relates to the stories they are working on.  You need to sift through by category and find the opportunities that work for your business.

Technical SEO Matters to Drive Search Ranking Results

Seo is more than just content and backlinks; there is a technical side of SEO that you need to be aware of and have your website technically correct.

Technical SEO requires the assistance of an SEO specialist or webmaster.

Technical SEO is off-page and away from the on-page content. Off page is focused on how search engines spiders crawl your site so it can be ranked.

Technical SEO is not simple; it encompasses many facets.  Here are a few:

The Makeup of Technical SEO Impacts That Drives SEO Results

The biggest of them all is page speed. It’s a huge deal. That cannot be discounted.

Think about this for a second, when you land on a search result that takes you to a website that seems to take forever to load, what do you do?

You close the page and go back to the search results, selecting another option.

The Kissmetrics study showed that:

40% of consumers expect a site to load in 2 seconds or less;

47% will close the page if it takes more than 3 seconds.

Does Technical SEO Affect SEO Results

Three seconds may not seem like it a very long time, however to the end user it is.  Therefore, if your website is hitting the deadly 3-second mark its worth the time to invest as to why.

Also, Google wants fast sites, and if yours isn’t meeting this threshold, Google will take their pound of flesh and adversely affect your ran....

There are more than a few things that can affect site speed, ranging from images to theme; my suggestion is to engage a webmaster and find out what is and have them addressed.

It’s all about Mobile Today

Today, more than 50% of searches now come from mobile devices, and Google is moving rapidly to mobile-first indexing.  Every website needs to be mobile ready.

Google has announced that their ‘algorithms will eventually primarily use the mobile version of a site’s content to rank pages from that site, to understand structured data, and to show snippets from those pages in our results.’

Duplication is not a Compliment with SEO

According to SEMrush, 50% of analyzed content has duplicate content issues, and it goes beyond the words on the page extending to duplicate meta descriptions, title tags, and more.

This confuses search engines; they cannot say which page should be ranked.

Technically this is not a Google penalty; it may impact your search engine ranking, and potentially the wrong page being shown.

HTTPS is a Must

Google is mandating the move to HTTPS and will downrank any site that has not made the move.  Daily via the Chrome browser, Google is warning the consumer that the site they are visiting is not secure.

So, you are wondering what the big deal is with HTTPS?  HTTPS means that all communication between your browser and a website is encrypted.

As noted above, HTTPS is a ranking factor as Google recently announced, websites that are still not secure using HTTP need to make the switch or will suffer a downgrade in their search engine rankings.

Impressions or Conversions?

While website traffic is beautiful, it means nothing if your website does not convert visitors into customers.  Traffic in its self is a vanity number, feels great but means nothing.

A content marketing strategy coupled with a content calendar and excellent, educational and informative content combined with SEO drives the right kind of traffic to your website that leads to conversions.

If the traffic isn’t converting, its time to take another look at your SEO and keywords.

Conversion rate optimization (CRO) means tracking and optimizing your keywords as you move forward.  You should schedule a Conversion Rate Audit Using Google Analytics periodically to ensure that you are on the right path.

Ready To Improve Your SEO Results?

Ideally, you have learned that SEO is one of the most efficient and effective ways to drive online traffic.

While it may seem overwhelming initially, relax, take a deep breath take it one step at a time, you will get there.  By using the three steps outlined above, you will see notable results in short order.
