I was a little skeptical about the new 2015 BMW i8. After all, unlike most of its world class launches, the i8 has been completely conceptualized by BMW's new i division that has been building progressive sport cars. So I had kept my expectations low. But did BMW surprise me or what?
This is without doubt one of the most stylish cars that has been launched in recent times. The beauty that is in the sleek and stylish carbon fibers fitted with the beautiful glass panels is not rivaled by another product in the same category in recent times. To keep up with the target audience which is looking for a sports car, the i8 has been built on a light weight Aluminium chassis
The other thing to talk about when it comes to the i8 is the propulsion system. There are two drive trains in the BMW i8 that is powered by the 1.5 liter direct injection system (turbocharged by a three cylinder engine). With a 231 horsepower engine and a 236 pound feet of torque, this machine is a beast.
I talked to a driver friend of mine who works for Priority Pickup - he also does test driving for new car models in Europe. He had this to say, "You expect a sports car to vroom around at their noisiest best. But with the i8, the engine is pretty silent, relatively speaking. The quoted 0-60 pickup is in about 4.2 seconds. But in my test, this happened in just lesser than 5 seconds. Still, it's an impressive car and is something I would splurge my money on".
