In my last post I talked about what a Blog can do for your Dealership. I wanted to touch back and add a key point. I received a couple of phone calls and e-mails on this topic, so I thought I would go back and post it for the others that may be asking the same question.

How long should it take to keep a Blog maintained? Once you have setup your initial layout, found your niche, and know what type of content you want to have on your Blog, you should be able to knock out a post in about 15-30 minutes. Not a lot of time really. The nice thing is, if you can set aside this little amount of time daily, pick out a topic that is of interest, research it a bit, then hammer it out... You will really reap the benefits of what the Blog can accomplish for you. The more you have an active Blog, the higher it will rank. The more topics you cover, the more chances you will grab someone’s attention with what you write, and the more wide spread you will be on GOOGLE, YAHOO, or where ever you have your Blog based out of.

If you are a Ford Dealer, like I am for instance, I try and come up with a subject on every model we carry. One day talking about Escape's, the next Explorer, and so on. We all know the more content you have on a subject the higher you rank.. especially in Google's new all search format. If you can write one post a day, you cover seven vehicles from your line a week. Not to mention you can talk about other products as well such as SYNC, which is a very popular product for us right now.

I have several Ford Websites in my Favorites that I view daily for content. All I do is hop on the net, cruise those sites real quick, for something that catches my eye, then open my Blog in another tab and go to work.

The bottom line: It doesn't take hours for you to maintain your Blog.. Once you set it up, 15-30 minutes a Day is not much time to help your Dealership reap the benefits. So you literally can either do it yourself as the Department Manager or find the person in your Department that has the knack for blogging and assign it to them. Very quick, easy, and very beneficial.
