This is something all of you can do, that is free, no very time consuming at all, and will do nothing but benefit your Dealership. Several months ago I researched what BLOG'S were and what they really do for you. I noticed that many businesses were doing them and found out that the largest benefit was in S.E.O. for your Dealer Website. Google, with it's all search format, will rank someone higher that has more information on a particular subject. For instance if your Dealership has one page on F-150 and another has four, The Dealer with four pages will be ranked higher. This goes for Dealerships that have multuiple Microsites as well. So I decided to give it a shot, to see if this actually did work for us. I built a blog that just had basic posts about upcoming vehicles, concepts, rebates, sales that our Dealership was having, and any new products that came from Ford. I quickly realized that the more you are trying to sell stuff on the Blog, the more people would stay away. But, if you designed the site to be mostly informational, visitors would not mind seeing some links to our Dealer Site, Dealer Specials, etc. So I built the site in this format and waited. Sure enough, we rose in many of the search engines, especially in GOOGLE.

So I began to research what I could do to get this same reaction for MSN, YAHOO, etc. MSN has what they call Live Spaces. I quickly built a Spaces site and the results were the same. Now while I'm not getting a ton of e-mails directly from these sites, I am getting referals from these sites to my Dealer Website. Meaning people are visiting the MSN Space or the Blog and then they are clicking the Dealer Website link and visiting the site I want them to go to.

I have been able to increase our rankings without paying a service to do so, as well as create traffic to our Dealer Website that otherwise may not have been there. If we slide in rankings, I simply do a new subject about what ever vehicle has moved down in the rankings and it comes back up. It is great, easy, and fairly quick. Depending on how long the post you create is, it should only take you a couple of minutes for each new post a day, but it will be totally worth it to you for Rankings in the major Search Engines.

Here is an example of one of the posts I come up with for our Blog...

The important part of this Post is at the end. The labels. Notice that I have our Dealership Name, the Vehicle Type, The kind of Vehicle FORD TRUCK, and a couple others. The Spiders for Search Engines eat this up and because I have a link on our Dealer Website ( in the meta tagging -- that is a Hyperlink to our Blog ) it helps our Rankings out.
