Car specialists agree that women can influence auto sales up to 85% making car manufactures and dealers willing to pay big bucks to read a woman's mind....well now they can.  Pinterest, the largest growing and most popular social network for women, with an average time spent on the site being 15 minutes, is changing the way woman purchase.
Pinterest is a place where friends and fast friends meet and bond on common likes.   Pinterest is a popular, photo-driven social media platform created through boards that represent things women love.  From cars, to vacations to fabulous shoes, women who dream it, can pin it.
Automotive marketers can be a part of the conversation on Pinterest by being extremely creative.  Word to the wise, creative is key because traditional advertising is shunned on Pinterest so be careful.
As an avid “pinner” and with a decade of marketing experience, I suggest the following tips for automotive marketing on Pinterest.
Post entertaining photos or images of your cars using tools like instagram, that can help manipulate colors and lighting to give them an artistic edge.
Chose your boards wisely.   Top features women look for in automobiles are safety, reliability and attention to details.  Make each board on your Pinterest site a feature of your automobile, this could include “Safety” with pictures of babies featured in your car seats.
Pinterest drives traffic to your website. Include the $ sign in the text description of a pin and the photo automatically puts in an overlay over the photo with the dollar amount, link the photo back to your auto blog or website, a a great tool to build traffic to your site and has been shown to beat Facebook as a top referring site to blogs.

Francie,

Last week I did a great Pinterest Primer for our Certified Female Friendly® clients. Great way for brands to reach more women IF they are careful not to spam them with sales pitches.

Great post and tips, Thanks! I am now following you on Pinterest ..follow me here: http://pinterest.com/askpatty/
