I think that most people would agree that Google Places has been a bit of a challenge for business owners from the standpoint that there are constant changes, no real contacts at Google to talk to, and difficult and slow processes for verifications and updates to a Places page. Even Google has said that they are trying to do a better job of understanding the local business owner's needs from a ground level perspective vs. a 10,000 ft perspective.
Well, it appears the wheels may be in motion. Here is a great chance to get your ideas heard at Google. They have proactively set up a forum, not a tech support page, for people to submit thoughts and vote on each others ideas for a two week period. As of this writing there is one week to go.
