C.A.R.S. Cash For Clunkers Dealer Advertising Packages from ADP Digital Marketing

ADP Digital Advertising is offering a turn key, prebuilt and optimized Cash For Clunkers Digital Marketing Program for franchised new car dealers who would like to drive more showroom and website traffic, phone calls and leads. What is the Car Allowance Rebate System?

The ADP Digital Advertising bundled Cash For Clunkers and Cash For Guzzlers campaigns have been specially built for NHTSA registered Dealers and are fully compliant with NHTSA Guidelines. NHTSA required advertising pre-approvals, when applicable, are obtained from NHTSA by ADP Dealer Services on behalf of our client dealers.

The promotional program ADP is offering includes three packages:

1. CFC Headquarters Digital Advertising Campaign Package - $10,000 a month
This package includes a Cash For Clunkers dealership video ready microsite with a Cash For Clunkers keyword enriched domain name, locally formatted SEO services, AdTracker toll-free number, lead form sourcing ID, $2500 a month in paid Search Engine Advertising and $5000 a month in Behavioral Targeted display advertising, $2500 a month in Website Placements of Display Advertising (includes Kelley Blue Book), animated Flash based advertising creatives, Double-Click hosting with Floodlight and Spotlight tracking and reporting of both Post-Click and Post-Impression Key Buying Activities (KBA), along with Omniture SiteCatalyst reporting and tracking application for a full suite of metrics. A 3 month ADP Digital Advertising agreement is used for this package.

2. CFC Participating Dealer Digital Advertising Campaign Package - $5295 a month
This package includes a CFC dealership video capable microsite with a Cash For Clunkers keyword enriched domain name, AdTracker toll-free number, lead form sourcing ID, $1500 a month in paid Search Engine Advertising, $2500 a month in Behavioral Targeted display advertising, $1000 a month in Kelley Blue Book website advertising, animated Flash based advertising creatives, Double-Click hosting with Floodlight and Spotlight tracking and reporting of both Post-Click and Post-Impression Key Buying Activities (KBA). A 3 month ADP Digital Advertising agreement is used.

3. CFC Dealer Microsite - $595 a month
Includes a CFC dealership video capable microsite with locally formatted SEO services, AdTracker toll-free number, lead form sourcing ID and Google Analytics installed for reporting and tracking. This package requires 12 month ADP Digital Advertising agreement for microsite only, with the option to change the microsite's theme after the CFC program expires to any of the 35 microsite designs at www.DealerMicrosites.com ..

Does the CARS program from NHTSA apply to vehicle leases?

Under the program, consumers may purchase a new vehicle or lease a new vehicle, provided the lease period for the new vehicle is at least five years.*

*EDITORS NOTE: Obviously, either the US Congress or NHTSA made a major error in regards to leasing... 60 Month Leases are rarely, if ever used, and I am personally surprised consumer advocates have not lobbied to make 5 year leases illegal! The best lease term for car buyers is 24 months... 36 months is OK if necessary to make the payments affordable. A 5 year lease is what a car salesman does to a customer he or she does not want to ever sell another vehicle to... A word of advice to the reader and anyone you care about; NEVER LEASE A VEHICLE FOR A LENGTH OF TIME LONGER THAN THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER PORTION OF THE WARRANTY FROM THE OEM. Of all the various ways to finance a new vehile, five year leases are the worst deal for the consumer ever invented!

I have personally leased 11 vehicles since 1990 and am currently driving a beautiful red Cadillac CTS that is fully loaded with all the options available except for AWD, and I have a monthly lease payment (including tax) from GMAC of only $437 a month... On a 24 Month Lease Term!

Where can dealers find the combined city/highway fuel economy ratings for trade-in vehicles?

Go to http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/sbs.htm and click on the model year of the vehicle, the make, and then the model. Under the words "ESTIMATED NEW EPA MPG" in the red banner, there is a red number with the word "COMBINED" under it. That is the NEW combined city/highway fuel economy for that vehicle.

How will dealers know if cars or trucks are eligible trade-in vehicles?

There are several requirements... In general, the trade-in vehicle must

■have been manufactured less than 25 years before the date of the trade in
■have a "new" combined city/highway fuel economy of 18 miles per gallon or less
■be in drivable condition
■be continuously insured and registered to the same owner for the full year preceding the trade in
■The trade-in vehicle must have been manufactured not earlier than 25 years before the date of trade in and, in the case of a category 3 truck, must also have been manufactured not later than model year 2001

Will consumers need to get a voucher or sign up for this program?

No. Consumers do not need a voucher and are not required to sign up or enroll in this program. If you are a participating new car dealer, you will apply a credit, reducing the price of the new vehicle at the time of purchase or lease, provided the vehicle you sell or lease and the vehicle traded in meet the program requirements. You will then obtain reimbursement from the government.

How to Obtain the CARS Logo from NHTSA:
Any advertisement or television spot using the CARS logo must be submitted for and receive advance approval by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Office of Consumer Information. NHTSA’s review will take 1-2 business days after submission. After NHTSA’s reviews and approves the proposed use of the CARS logo, the agency will provide the CARS logo to the user. Advertisements that do not use the CARS logo do not need to be submitted for approval.

NHTSA prefers that materials be submitted for agency approval in the following formats:

■For print advertisements: screen resolution PDF's.
■For television spots: VHS, CD-ROM or electronic file (Media Player or QuickTime compatible).
■For Web advertisements: HTML or flash type file or link to an externally accessible Web site.

Last week, from Sunday to Saturday July 11, 2009 my team at ADP Digital Advertising saw the highest web site visitor to web form submitted lead conversion rates we have ever seen from the Cash For Clunkers online advertising campaign and microsite set up for Rich Ford in Albuquerque, NM. Whether you use my team at ADP, do it yourself or use one of our competitors, you owe it to yourself to set up a Behavioral Targeted Cash For Clunkers display advertising campaign and appropriate landing page! We had about 500 click through's on Rich Ford's BT display ads, which then generated over 80 web form based leads, so not even counting the phone calls, we achieved over a 16% visitor-to-lead conversion rate... Outstanding performance from any type of online ad campaign, but especially for a BT display campaign which generates MORE SHOWROOM TRAFFIC than web form leads because of impression volume and targeting... Dealers need to take advantage of consumer interest in this program before it is too late, or the competition scoops up all the interested car shoppers.
