Have you changed your passwords lately?

This morning as I'm reviewing tweets, posts. blogs, etc I came across the post below from the Time Management Ninja about personal passwords. It's a nicely written article that seemingly spoke about the password habits of many of the people I know (yes admittedly mostly me).

I am guilty of a few of the bad practices around password usage and he's right about the reasons for them: changing passwords costs time and discipline. Yet it is so very important. We know that we should change… Continue

Where's your I?

The Social Media ROI questions continue to pour in like rain through a leaking roof in the midwest today. (Sorry midwest friends - I know that it's miserable out there.) Everyone wants to prove ROI, see how to measure ROI, validate their ROI beliefs. Dealers and managers question the time and effort relative to return - the big R in ROI.

Today I'd like to question you investment... the big I in ROI. Where and what exactly is your investment. Relative to everything else a business… Continue

Women dominate automotive shopping and they dominate Social Sites...

And now that we know those two tenants where and how do you think your marketing and communication strategies should be driven. I'd point out too that knowing that women dominate both automotive shopping decisions as well as Social Sites should give you an excellent idea of where to go to learn about how best to grow and maintain both your business and your relationships.

There's a lot to learn from the Social sphere. You'll have to… Continue

Planning to hire Social Media talent...

Numerous people continue to ask me about the right skillsets mindset and other attributes that consitute the right person to hire for a social media position. My typical answers are those often shared by most - high degree of technical understanding, web savvy, high social experience etc. A lot of common sense stuff. But alas we now have a more expert consultation! Amber Naslund posted a clean article on SocialMedia today that should help any organization (especially dealerships) looking to… Continue

Top 10 people to follow on twitter (and blogs) and why...

As the automotive dealer body works to catch up with the social media express (yes I said it: the dealer body is behind in another technology wave again) industry leaders, dealer principals, and vendors are working hard at trying to learn, catch-up, and turn new found knowledge in to "an unfair competitive advantage" (Roy Busse @ ronsmap loves phrase). So in that spirit - as well as the holiday spirit, I'd like to share what Jack Humphrey has graciously provided us in his blog post below It's… Continue

Here's why you need a REAL SOCIAL MEDIA strategy.

This is a tweet that I just got. We can do better than just listening for mentions and then jumping on the follow band wagon like a stray dog obnoxiously barking and chasing a car down the street.

NotPrincessLeah: Why is Beaver Toyota following me? Did I say something about beavers? Oh wait, I remember. It was the beaver fur coat in Santa Fe...

Toyota's new i-REAL ... what do you think?

Imagine traffic jams with high-fives, passing lattes around, and getting run over by pedestrians? Can I put a golf bag on it?

Seriously - looks cool!

Online Banner Ads may never be the same...

Check out Google's latest announcement regarding banner ads. Prior to this announcement Google (through AdSense and AdWords) had a market, a very large one I might add for targeted text based ads. Now they provide a market to do the same for Banner and Display ad placement. This means great new opportunities for advertisers (dealers) and publishers/content providers.

Read it and tell me what you think. Or tweet me what you think… Continue

Consumers holding off on car purchases... big opportunity?

I came across this feed from Consumer Reports about consumers holding off on car purchases. What I found very interesting in the article is the top 4 reasons that consumers are giving for holding off. You can almost hear a consumers' response:" I don't know man, my car's in pretty good shape, not to mention, prices for cars today are way too high and there aren't any incentives that would motivate me..." What? That seems to be in contrast with the recent activity and consumer response to… Continue
