Are You Taking The Right Approach To Your Pre-Paid Maintenance Programs?

With service departments finally getting the credit due to them for contributing to the growth and profit of dealerships, pre-paid maintenance programs (PMP) are starting to make a huge impact on the overall profit of dealerships as well.

I think it is well established that most PMPs are being sold in the F…

Pricing Pre-Paid Maintenance Plans is Critical to Their Success

Many dealerships price prepaid maintenance programs (PMPs) high enough to shatter success from the start. Thinking that the real benefit comes from profit built into the plan along with forfeiture, they create a price point that’s prohibitive. While some new buyers will take the bait, the typical consumer, when asked to pay $895 for three years of scheduled maintenance, simply adds up the cost of nine or ten oil changes and a half dozen tire rotations and says, “Thanks, but no…

Which Event Should I Attend This Fall?

I've been seeing a lot of posts lately about upcoming fall conferences and events. These posts are typically not altruistic. They're written by people with vested interests in specific events, whether that's because they're a speaker or they're the host. Now it's our turn.

For people interested in learning and are considering attending one of these events and aren't sure which to attend, I've created a graphic comparison of the three events specifically being held in October 2011 that…

The powerpoint presentations were rehearsed with care

The Almighty Salesperson...And The Almighty Dollar

Somewhere, over time, the thing in the middle of you and a buck (customer, client, deal, contract) was swept away even though that is was business is all about. It seems like the easy ride, free equity, huge perks and general "asleep at the wheel" mentality gave way to a gaping hole the size of a small planet. And guess who allowed it to happen? We did.

You can give excuse after excuse, allow yourself all of the credit in the world, but at the end of the day are you going to make it… Continue
