Professional Community for Car Dealers, Automotive Marketers and Sales Managers
Those words spoken to me by one of the smartest dealers I ever worked for, Jay Marks, have stayed with me since 1996. Same principal applies in every position of the dealership but particularly in…Continue

Now how funny is that. We are so accustomed to getting a recording (you have reached...) or a support line,…Continue
My hat’s off to all dealership personnel on this forum. It’s not easy to keep up with the latest digital trends and then figure out which ones make the most sense for your dealership. There always seems to be a change in the algorithms, or a new review site or social platform to master on top of your core responsibilities. To help make this easier, I’d like to invite West Coast dealers to an educational…Continue

An interesting report from comScore and I think some premonitions for retail automotive.

As we continue our conversation about Zero Moment of Truth, where customers research you and your products online, let’s not forget what the First Moment of Truth is: When people contact your dealership.
I want to focus on what happens when customers get on site and how what happens can affect the sale. To explain my point, at a recent workshop I posed this question to readers: “ What are some things that customers saw upon coming to a dealership that negatively affected their…Continue

TrueCar has certainly stirred up a hornet’s nest with “Know the REAL Price”. To be fair they are not the only online lead generator that uses dealership transactional data in an effort to get between the customer and the dealership and get a piece of the car sale either through a pay for lead or pay for sale pricing model.
Both KBB and Edmunds use transactional data also, the difference… their billing model doesn’t require them to dial into your system so it doesn’t appear that they…Continue
“It’s not your website provider’s job to give you a working website. It’s their job to give you a functional one; it’s your job to make it work”
What does that mean…REALLY?

What To Do About A Bad Review
We’ve all talked about bad reviews and what to do about them. The consensus is that you answer them in a constructive way that shows others that you are concerned about an unhappy customer.
Asking that customer to…Continue
Having videos on your auto dealer website has been shown to increase website leads, and when done with video search engine optimization (VSEO), helping your site climb the search engine result pages. If your dealership has videos on your website, you should have those videos uploaded to your own dealership YouTube channel.
The verdict on Google+ for personal use still seems to be out for many (myself included). But according to Christian Oestlien, group product manager for social advertising at Google has said that they are “close to unveiling Google+ business profiles”.

About a year ago, PCG Digital Marketing coined a term PODScore to help businesses understand how much “brand leakage” happened in a simple search for their name online. (you can find more about PODscore at www.podscore.org) We had a business type their company name into search and then count the number of listings they controlled. The result, through the PODscore formula, gave you a very simple numerical value of how well they dominated page one in…Continue

More than 8 years of content is uploaded to YouTube every day. That's more video content in one month than the three major US networks created in 60 years. YouTube is owned by Google, and Google is attaching "search" relevance to video. The following chart from SearchMetrics illustrates the most recent trends in search showing that video is dominating every other catagory. Dealership marketing would fall under "Shopping".…Continue

Michael Tyman of Professional Success, Inc.: If you are only counting the leads, you are not seeing all of the value.
Any e-commerce expert can tell you that ranking highly on major search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing, is the keystone of a thriving digital presence. While it is a huge challenge to optimize your site to outrank your opponents in the…Continue
