Your Facebook page is a lot like a sports car. It's got a lot of moving parts, requires some dedicated maintenance to stay in working condition, and can be unreliable depending on who made it.
But how do I do all of this? What maintenance do I have to perform? How do I know my page is in good…Continue

If imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery, there's little doubt that Twitter is smitten with Facebook. Or at the very least, the 140-character service loves aping Mark Zuckerberg's creation.
But in the cut-throat social sharing world, where Facebook literally is the 800…Continue
Over the last few weeks, Facebook has been buzzing as it rolls out new features and updates. Some are aimed at creating a better experience for users, like the updated look of the timeline, while others, such as the identification of which administrator posted on a page are useful for page owners.
I rather enjoy the look of the new timeline. The larger images and grouping of similar items side-by-side do improve the experience from my perspective.
“I have no idea what you are talking about.” That was the response of the dealer who currently signs my paycheck. This was in a board meeting of approximately twenty people who were discussing a planned expansion of the dealership’s operations. Of course this included a renewed push…Continue
About a year ago, J D Rucker published a list of the most influential people in the automotive industry (according to KLOUT).
KLOUT influence isn't the same thing as real world influence. There wasn't anyone named Ford on the list or any CEO's of the automakers or big dealer groups. This was a list of automotive people who were active on social media and could wield influence across…Continue

Facebook’s new Graph Search allows users to search for the best places to grab a bite, buy insurance, find a realtor and get an oil change and everything in-between. Search uses an algorithm that leverages a person’s social connections with brands and businesses to source results.
As well as answering a user’s query, Graph Search offers third-party recommendations from trusted sources (the user’s Facebook friends).

Facebook has a promise that it has made to businesses. It’s not an official promise in writing anywhere on the site. It’s an implied promise. “We have the attention of the masses. If you want to get in front of them, we’re the biggest game in town.”
The unfortunate reality is that the majority of businesses, particular small and…Continue
In the year 2000, I said, "I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet." to the dealership I was leaving.
I was talking about the Internet.
Most of the car dealers I know are bottom line kind of people, and that's the question they want answered.
With all the hoopla over social media, how many extra cars am I going to sell this month off of Facebook and the Twitter?
What's the ROI?
Erich Marx, Director of Interactive and Social Media Marketing for Nissan, speaking Saturday at a Nashville Social Media conference said he doesn’t have that answer and he’s not even sure that’s the right…Continue
