Savvy dealers are turning to low cost alternatives like Facebook and Twitter and other social media outlets as their alternative. Not only is it free, but it can help you interact with your future and existing customers in real-time. It's no secret that Dealers will do just about anything to…

Dealers Advertising on Craigslist to Clean Up Their Act

The biggest selling point of advertising on Craigslist in the past was also it’s biggest drawback: it was free.

Craigslist’s Cars+Trucks has been littered with ads that, frankly, have little to do with selling a specific vehicle.

Some of the biggest offenders are…

Is Craigslist Coming of Age?

If you spend enough time in any industry, you will see the emergence and maturity of many new elements.  In Automotive Retail, these elements start off slowly, taking years to mature, then all at once, “Pop!”, they reveal their true potential and the world changes!  Classified Listings are the latest great example of a sector within Automotive Retail that has been building for years, and is now Coming of Age.…

My Response to the Many Concerns I've Received Regarding Craigslist Block on Mass Posting Tools

Use Inventory Postings to Drive In-Market Customers to Facebook

Approximately 80% of dealerships have a social media program, with some dealers reporting great success. Others, not so much. Some dealership Facebook Pages have thousands of fans and are very active, while some have only a few fans and employees and post irregularly. Some dealers get plenty of feedback from their fans, and some dealers continually post in a vacuum.

But even if your Page has thousands of active fans, do you know how many of them are in the market for a…

Craigslist Has Rules

In recent months I have seen an increased amount of interest from dealers wanting to learn more about posting used inventory on craigslist, and rightfully so. Craigslist is an incredible vehicle for generating leads, IF you play by the rules. If you DO NOT...you might as well not even show up to the party, because the Craigslist Police are going to take you down.

Dealers are not the only people at the party either. Showing up are a number of companies, a few that are ethical and… Continue

Going Beyond OEM Website Approved Solutions

There's at least one angry car dealer that is fed up with OEM-mandated website companies. Approved website vendors help maintain the manufacturer's brand integrity and uniformity, but where does that leave you?

While the officially-mandated approach can be quite…

Automate Your Craigslist Posts

Posting your new and used inventory on Craigslist is time consuming and downright rough if you’re listing cars one by one. We’ve heard some horror stories from our friends at car dealerships where they spend a whole day posting cars to Craigslist only to get them flagged and removed. On top of that, Craigslist ads expire after 7 days and you’ll have to repost all of them. It’s a tedious process but having a strong presence on Craigslist gives you huge advantages.…

Inventory on Craigslist? - Amazing results or not? (let's try this again!)

I would be very interested to hear from dealers IF you post your inventory online to Craigslist (and other free listings) and what kind of results you are having? How are you doing it (a software tool, or using a service). Also, If you DON'T post your inventory to the free listings, why not?
