Looking for a new car used to mean spending the day hitting dealership row, encountering one dealer after another. Those days are vanishing. Nearly 90 percent of today’s car buyers hit the Internet first, and dealers encounter prospective buyers who are already well informed. As such, car buyers are savvy and more aggressive, often helping put them in the driver’s seat in more ways than one. Highly consumer-centric automotive portals are to thank for this metamorphosis.

Are you in the market to buy a car this holiday season? Lots of folks are! December traditionally is the best month of the year to make a deal on a new or pre-owned vehicle. The manufacturers roll out the red carpet with incentives and dealers are very motivated to move their pre-owned inventory before the end of the year. Now add the most recent Federal Reserve rate cut and depressed demand in the auto industry the last few months; and car buyers have a perfect storm of… Continue

What a wonderful time of year! Wouldn’t you agree? It is wonderful even as we draw near to the end of a year that our children and our children’s children will study in their economics classes. So what can we do to turn this giant American economic ship around? Here are five things that can make a difference right now:
1. Change your attitude. You’ve heard your whole life that attitude is everything and frankly it is. We can change the economy first and perhaps most dramatically by… Continue

I was in a dealership recently and noticed the new 2009 Nissan Maxima. The Maxima has long been a favorite of mine and the new body style is no exception. Nissan calls it the four door sports car and the vehicle lives up to it. The new body style looks wide and thick. It has the same 3.5 liter VQ engine that has been on Ward’s 10 Best Engines list for 14 years in a row. Right off the showroom floor it has 290 hp.
If you love the combination of luxury, performance and affordable… Continue

What are our domestic auto manufacturers doing about energy these days? A lot!
Ford Motor Company announced recently that the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan hybrid models will be 41 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. Wow! 41 mpg in the city means our urban areas can see huge benefits. And get this, the Fusion and the Milan can go up to 47 mph on all electric power. This makes them extremely useful in those short trips down the street to the grocery store or around the block to… Continue

First, my role as a "consultant" was thrust on me by my recognition of the fact that many of my auto dealer clients and affiliated automotive advertising agencies linked to Ad Agency Online, L.L.C
. had forgotten the "basics" that earned them their positions as the "leaders" of their respective teams. Other clients inherited their dealership from an entrepreneurial parent or they matured their agency after working for many years building up a book of… Continue

Nothing will lower your PVR faster than a bad attitude.
Maybe the first deal you see is 15 minutes prior to closing and it is a cash deal. The check is completely filled in from the customer’s lender; a lender you know you are able to beat their rates, terms and carries. Now what???
There is nothing you can do at this point that is going to change the fact that this customer is your customer and this deal is your deal. The thing you can control is your attitude, your… Continue

Apparently the verdict is back on how much consumers trust company and corporate blogs these days; "Survey Says!" They don't. In fact, the rating was lower than you might have expected, yes, it was almost twice as high as the US congress, but that is not saying much now is it?
Indeed, this is the reality. Consumers, especially online consumers are wise to how much can be trusted on the… Continue

Will 2009 offer any relief from this most dreary of car-selling seasons? The Detroit 3 aren't optimistic. Ford Motor, the most bullish of the three, predicts U.S. light-vehicle sales of 12.2 million units in 2009. That would be 900,000 fewer than the 13.1 million expected in 2008 by auto analyst Erich Merkle.
But Merkle holds out hope for a recovery in the second half of 2009. He predicts U.S. sales of 12.8 million for the year, despite forecasting an awful first… Continue

There are several things to keep in mind when training and presenting.
Always know your audience; what is their skill level/ability.
Always have an objective in mind; what is it that you would like your audience to walk away with once they’ve completed your training. One of my main objectives is to always make sure my audience can leave doing at least two or three new skills that will help them make more money.
My style is to be bold, dynamic and to try to… Continue

Since 1986 I have been using various digital marketing strategies and sales tactics to sell cars...
