Professional Community for Car Dealers, Automotive Marketers and Sales Managers
|by Steve Hanson, Sr. Manager of Performance Improvement Consulting|
Why is my sales volume down? Why is my service drive empty? Why did I lose that deal? These questions are sometimes easier to answer than…
… you should only care about the ones that can buy from you.
With global brands, it’s a different story, but when we’re talking about localized businesses trying to use social media to make an impact, the community itself is all that’s important. In fact, having too many fans outside of your market…

Your dealership is great. Otherwise you wouldn’t work there, right?
But how do you show people how great the customer experience is, without ‘differentiating’ like the other guys?
Too often, I view dealership websites that say the same thing as everyone else, even if it may be true in their case.
‘Best service in (city), guaranteed.’
‘No one will beat our prices.’
‘Our staff are your neighbors, and provide unmatched customer…Continue

In today’s world where everyone is going 120mph, people are more interested in convenience than ever before. Is it because time is so limited in our hectic schedules or is it because we’ve become accustomed to taking the shortest route possible to achieve the same end result? For example, when cooking…
AAA recently unveiled its 2013 annual study in the cost of ownership for the typical sedan, available at AAA’s “Your Driving Costs” study, which revealed a nearly 2% increase in the cost to own and operate a sedan in the U.S. This report must raise a few…

By the time she’s 21, she will, like most of her girlfriends, control two-thirds of the consumer wealth in the U.S. according to a recent research study by Fleishman-Hillard Inc.
Furthermore, she will have the final say on all purchases as well as being the motivator of big ticket buys such as a new home, car and appliances – and that’s on top of her daily purchases of groceries, clothes and take-away food.
What does this mean for marketers and advertisers? It…Continue

Mobile devices are proliferating at an exponential rate and nearly 40% of all Internet traffic now, is on a mobile device. Mobile marketing reached $2.7…Continue

In working with e–commerce directors (both inside and outside of the automotive industry) for the past several years, I have noted several similar patterns in how internet marketers measure success. Some focus on driving traffic to their site without looking at the source of the traffic to determine its value, while others focus solely on the number of leads they can provide to the sales department, regardless of quality or cost. Still others look directly…

I've decided to write more frequently about Automotive SEO, after a brief period of silence.
Recent research on Organic Search rankings and collaboration with industry leaders brought to light a very interesting observation.

One of the best things about my job is the fact that I get to talk to so many owners, GMs, dealers, sales managers and service directors about their dealership’s owner marketing strategy. Or, in some cases, need for one. That’s when I find my work the most rewarding, when I’m speaking with dealers who are ready to reap the benefits of developing and implementing a strong, sustainable owner marketing strategy.
Because remember, there are only three ways…Continue

Unless you have been hiding in a cave somewhere, you have heard that the U.S. economy is doing poorly. Housing starts are down, the value of the dollar is down, car sales are down, real estate is down, retail is down, gas prices are up, food prices are up, bankruptcies are up and the sky is falling. What is a person to do?
1. Don't Drink the Cool Aid
The news is…

When did you last share with someone important why you enjoy him or her? We’re fast to convey disappointment or dissatisfaction with others, but uplifting the attributes in them we like feels rather strange.
Yet when it comes to building loyalty, whether in customers, coworkers or…Continue

I made a very prosperous living selling highline automobiles. My sales strategy made happy customers happier and because my sales were MSRP or better they made my boss quite happy too.
My strategy? I rarely took a showroom up.
Taking ups, as much as we love the rush of that pursuit, results in closing rates under 20%. You could be closing half or more if you prospect the right opportunities.
This kind of progressive selling is the future of…Continue
