Today I looked at 20 dealers Google Analytics reports for the last 30 days and on average, about 20% of their website traffic is being labeled as Mobile visitors. Here is an example of how this is displayed in Google Analytics.

Is TrueCar going on the offensive?
Take a look at this article that appears on page one of today's (Saturday, 2/11/12) NY Times Metro Section: "Car Dealers Wince at a Site to End Sales Haggling".
While it is great to see this topic covered by the NY Times it's a little disappointing to see that the reporter,…

Exhibiting at the NADA 2012 Convention and Expo in Las Vegas was very interesting. One of the hottest topics was the “third party data access” controversy that has been unfolding over the last few months. From a DMS provider’s point of view, there are certainly ways that we can help dealers maintain control of their data, such as offering a free data protection service. But as I see the state of things right now, I’d be willing…Continue
As a dealer you always have to watch out for shiny new objects that can promise one thing but deliver something entirely differently. I had the opportunity to sit down with the folks from AutoAccelerator and demo their new iPad app for their CRM. To say that I was impressed is an understatement.
Not only did this app have the eye appeal that will…Continue

It's that time of year again. Yes, one of my favorite blogs of the year. I have always enjoyed writing about my experiences at conferences and conventions. This blog is going to be great. Why so great you ask?
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
Boom...here it is.
This has been my most productive and educational NADA convention out of the three that I have attended. I realized this year the importance of spending a…

What types of video work better? Authentic Vehicle Walk-Around Presentations or Videos assembled from OEM supplied "B Roll" intended for TV Spots... Or, the ever popular mass produced Pan and Zoom "fake" videos made from the still images photographed for inventory listings?
Last week I had the honor and privilege of both attending and speaking at the Digital Marketing Strategies Conference produced by Carrie Hemphill, Brian Pasch, Glen Pasch and the team at…Continue

A lot of fuss is being made of late, of Search Plus Your World and for good reason: love it or hate it, this is going to make a huge impact on Automotive SEO now and for the foreseeable future. This is great and there are some great simple steps you can take to…
I am who I am. I am me! I work as me, I advise as me, and I write and publish as me. I am this way because, as a person, I fit the “new credibility” very well: I am all over the Web, and you can reach me by email and phone if you go to my website. You can find me, easily, and find out about me,…Continue
Like so many other Americans, I gathered up my snacks and beverages to sit down in front of a television to catch the NFL Big Event. Having a career in marketing and sales, I paid curious attention to the messages conveyed in the 60 second spots aired between plays. This year, I heard it loud and clear from the Automotive…

Tom - DMV does play into this. They are wrong for selling personal data as well when it is without the permission of the original owner. As far as I am concerned, find money for the bridge elsewhere. Just like TrueCar, people are turning their backs on their personal information with an illusion that they may be saving money... Meanwhile, their personal information is being bought and sold by a very few tech savy companies. As stated elsewhere, this data accumulation business is in the multi…Continue

A few weeks ago I wrote about how Google was going to include items from Google+ in their regular search results when users were signed in, calling it “Search Plus Your World”. Now that users have had some time to get accustomed to it, I wanted to touch on how this new way of searching could benefit your car dealership’s local search…Continue

The New York Giants denied the New England Patriots a Super Bowl ring again. With this familiar, trivial news out of the way, let’s talk about the important stuff – the commercials.
At around $3.5 million per advertisement, companies spent mountains of cash for 30 seconds of Super Bowl airtime. As expected, auto manufacturers engaged in…

The 2012 NADA Convention exhibitor hall was very active this year making the selection of the PCG Spotlight Award winners even more challenging.
This year five companies that attended the 2012 NADA Convention were selected by PCG as having outstanding products that will benefit the dealer community.
