How To Sell Vehicle Accessories On The Web
Customers come into your dealership all the time to buy cars as well as get their current vehicles serviced. Some also come back to buy accessories for vehicles, such as tires, parts, and customization items such as body kits and aftermarket headlights. Your Parts department loves to see these customers and help them develop an identity for their vehicles.…Continue

By now you’ve probably heard about the merger of Google Places and Google + into a new entity called Google+ Local.
Google touts the release of Google+ Local as “bringing the community of Google+ to local business owners around the world. “ They promote the fact that “with one listing, your business can now be found across Google search, maps, mobile and Google+, and that your customers can easily recommend your business to their friends, or tell the world about it with a review.”…

I received a call yesterday from a Dealer that was negatively impacted by the Google Penguin update. Their organic search traffic is down about 25% and they asked me to take a look at their Analytics and Webmaster Tools.
The frustrating part is that their marketing and "SEO Company" deleted the message inside of Webmaster Tools alerting the dealer that Google had some concerns about the linking strategy used by the dealership. So without a specific message to go on, I looked…Continue

Facebook’s EdgeRank is the elusive, mystical formula that calculates whether your story is interesting enough to be featured on your friends’ newsfeeds. One site compared the EdgeRank to a credit history: It’s important, unique to each user, invisible, and no one knows exactly how it works. Mathematically stated, the EdgeRank formula would look something like…Continue

Nearly every day that I meet with dealers, I’m going over statistics. The metrics that dealers are most interested in are always the same: leads, leads, leads. I constantly field questions like: “Why are my email leads down this month?” “Great, my phone leads are up!” “Why are my hours and directions visits… wait, what are those again?” Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
The truth is, this fixation on leads is short-sighted. According to a 2011 study done by AutoTrader.com and Polk* 69% of…Continue
Following is the latest Black Book pricing data on the used-car market. Additional analysis and chart information can be found here.
It was an interesting week regarding the market values. Sure the softening trend continued. The car segments were overall at very close to the level of the previous 4 weeks, at -$31 this past week. The lone…

As a Social Media Specialist, I’ve been asked many times before what is it that I do and how I do it. I simply reply, I write, because social media is far too complex to describe in one sitting. New sites are popping up everyday, like Bo.lt, a website that is supposed to be better than Pinterest (crazy, right?), and new trends are always rising. Which means it is my sole purpose to research industry trends and analyze current social business data available to…Continue

I opened up the latest Automotive News over breakfast today and noticed a teaser for an article inside.
"Warning: Ratings Count for Shoppers". Of course after teaching Reputation management and customer service workshops for the last 2 years in the automotive industry I am always drawn to this type of article.
Well before I get to what the article said, I…Continue

Google's purchase of AdMob in 2009 gave them access to AdMob's network of over 300,000 mobile apps. The app categories that can be targeted are part of Google's Play and Apple's App…Continue

Who doesn’t love free stuff? If your dealership has a loyalty program that allows customers to accrue rewards points, one of the best ways to encourage people to sign up is the promise of free stuff and/or valuable discounts down the road. Customers who purchase a vehicle or come into your service department are ideal prospects for a loyalty program, but what about the customers who haven’t visited your shop lately? What about friends of your customers?
Social Media is a great…Continue
