What is it about CSI, or through interpretation of what it means, that has had dealers begging for their life and coaching customers? Especially today when someone may be cordial enough to tell the factory that they were completely satisfied in the hand-written survey (when they may not have) only to have another customer completely lambaste you online...
More importantly, why does the focus on CSI happen at the end of the delivery? Because they'll remember? Hardly! Because if you… Continue

I was reading how an Internet lead is lost in 4 hours if not followed up. The online car buyer will actually go to your site and look around and even fill out your customer contact form. What happens next is incredible. The lead will often go unnoticed by the web staff and this gets lost in the shuffle.
A surprisingly large number of these leads will go on to another dealership and make a purchase. The percentage of prospects who actually do this is close to 50%. If the lead can… Continue

Ok, I work in the Internet Department and deal with the mostly negative feedback about Internet leads.
We use the system of dealing out the leads to the sales personnel and are not sales persons ourselves.
The guys whine and complain the the leads are bad and natter, natter, all the work it is to "deal" with entering information on the computer and so on.
As far as the computer administration stuff, they can surf for sports stuff all day long without a hitch,… Continue

I am in the mist of a huge decision, we all are actually, and that is to take our Dealerships to the next level and exceed all of our goals and expectations.
The web is exploding with new technology every day and I for one am very excited about everything I read and hear about. Our dealership is ready for the technology and we are eager to embrace it, these next few weeks we will be inviting technology professionals to the dealership to hear the next great pitch, it will be fun for… Continue

I'm writing this post due to a certain situation I face, that I'm sure many of you have faced before. Forgive me for being vague with some details because the overall process I'm involved in has not be finalized.
Here's the gist of it all. I recently engaged in a rather large scale project that required me to seek out specific partners with whom we could perhaps do business with. This involved an exploratory phase, a weeding out process and ultimately a… Continue

AdAgencyOnline.Net was developed to capitalize on the recognized Internet phenomenon of social networking and viral marketing in the auto industry.
The portal is a network of automotive advertising agencies, auto industry vendors and auto dealers who turn to the site to share best practices and to solve common problems in a shrinking auto industry. Philip Zelinger, the host of AdAgencyOnline.Net, is a former auto dealer, the President of Ad Agency… Continue

Dealers are finally moving into the 21st century with new technology that makes it easier to monitor and measure the real results their e-commerce departments are attaining all in real time.
Hi guys and gals, I have recently left the retail side of the business to focus on a dream of mine. From the day I took over as the internet director for a great Tampa highline dealership Reeves Import Motorcars, I knew I wanted to help dealers… Continue

Well you did it. You made the trip to New Orleans. You partied hard. You had fun. You walked those aisles of vendors. You sat through seminars on many different topics. Tell me you learned something. If you tell me yours, ill tell you mine. Ill tell you about my weekend at The Auto Gallery
We held a good ole fashion service clinic. We said to all our customers “Spend 30 Minutes with the Car… Continue

Now, I know what many of you might be thinking that NADA was a bust this year, but to all of you out there on that wavelength, let's put it in perspective...
Sure, attendance was WAY down, however the "quality" of conversations with dealers was greatly enhanced in my opinion. This year at our booth we didn't have one dealer walk into our spot and say "So, what do you guys do." They came in saying... "So, show me your stuff and let's talk." Now those are… Continue

When contacting dealerships and dealer groups I have noticed an interesting trend. This trend is NOT display what the manufacturer ends up spending millions on every month....advertising incentives and rebates on TV, radio and print.
When researching dealer sites we have noticed about 80% of dealer sites are not posting current incentive and rebate… Continue

Last weekend's NADA show had all of the makings for a great show: vendors, timing, speakers and even terrific weather (for New Orleans in winter). The one thing that was missed: the D in NADA. Without the dealers, it's a relatively expensive industry supplier meeting. As the trade show and the main body of the industry in the US, it's the dealers' best resource for gettin' er' done. I've never walked around unabated.
This is not a blast on the NADA, its leadership or affiliates.… Continue

Fantastic day ADM community and anyone who may read this posting. Our crew at "eDealership.com" just returned from NADA. It was our 2d year of exhibiting our Gas Approval System software which is a one of a kind, new product in the industry that manages and monitors dealerships use of gasoline which is often an over looked area of high expense that we haven proven to be able to reduce by 20% for a value priced monthly fee.
We had the same amount of vistors to our booth (6219) this… Continue

Online social networks are a bit like different cultures.
They each have their own rules, norms, acceptable practices and taboos. As a marketer, your job is to study the environment before you jump in with guns blazing. The last thing you want to do is accidentally offend your target audience! Take the time to Google your questions before you poll your peers!
If you present yourself as a fairly informed newcomer, the group is more likely to accept you and answer… Continue

How many of you use Digg?
Do you use it on a personal basis or as a professional platform?
That was a trick question!
Any social media you use should be somehow incorporated into both your personal and professional lives.
Bold statement huh? Please, allow me to explain!
Digg is a great example of this personal and professional relationship, you must become an active part of the community and submit good content to be successful

Social Media Marketing? Huh?
Oh yes! Social Media Marketing ties in with a new concept called Web 2.0. This new interactive web is fueled by people rather than technology.
What does that mean? How about I give you an example! Look at Wikipedia. The users of Wikipedia are both consumers and creators of the information on the site.
Anyone can go to a page and edit it. This gives the world a growing, developing version of the dictionary. Rather than… Continue

I was driving into work this morning and heard a Radio Spot for Carmax. It was the voice of an "old time" announcer talking about the evolution of the Automobile, and then he goes into how every "two bit Used Car Salesman, looking to make a fast buck off a slow car!"
Although I don't specialize in pre-owned, previously loved, or USED Cars, I am still a Salesperson who chose the Automobile as my product to sell. Do you really think Carmax does it for free? Do they not make profit? Of… Continue
