Oct 2011: I'm the Manager for the Bosak Auto Group located in NW Indiana. We carry Honda, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and a large inventory of pre-owned vehicles. On top of that my 2nd hat is E-Commerce our dealership in known as the #1 Internet dealer in Indiana this is a fact I'm very proud of and strive to keep us on top.

Tom - I do not disagree with you about BDC compensation being charged to sales commissions... But, every time i have seen this done in an overt manner, the BDC has failed primarily due to a lack of cooperation by the sales team. HOWEVER, I have seen this work when each unit sold as a result of the BDC setting an appointment had THE DEAL GROSS charged $200 just like it was a "We Owe" or "Due Bill" charge for floor mats or accessories thrown in with the sale. We did this at Courtesy Chevrolet and were able to recover between 60% to 75% of total BDC operating costs each month, with the balance going into "Sales Admin".
Tom - Regarding your comment about BDC reps getting a percentage of sales commission... Of course, your comment makes sense; unfortunately, in most dealerships the sales people are in a position to "sabotage" the results reporting for the BDC and the general sentiment within the sales management team. The sad reality is that if the sales people are charged, or PERCEIVE they are being charged for the BDC team's services, they will ensure that the BDC fails.
