Based on the Kelley Blue Book Consumer Sentiment Q2 2012 survey, consumers doing research are performing a median six months (183 days) of research before purchasing a new or used car.  Of those consumers, nearly half (47 percent) have visited a dealership.  Putting these two numbers together, two conclusions can be drawn:

  1. There are a lot of ups walking onto dealership lots who are in a research mindset.

Hey Rob!
It's nice to hear from someone from Toms River. My friend Skip owns a chiropractic office there and was called "The Mayor" of Seaside Heights. The name Kathy hit me right in the heart when you mentioned her. I worked with her and many others during the dealership's rise to stardom. I really miss Jersey and have thought several times about moving back. If you can sell in the Tri-State area, you can sell anywhere in the country. I would like to share some memories and swap some names (war stories from the Bamboo Club). I will email you after I send this comment out. Oooh... I almost forgot... My senior VP signed the KBB/ADP contract that I have been working on since last February today. So we are now officially business allies... I finished working for Manheim in the UK in Febuary and did a couple of months consulting for Lexus. For the last few years I have been working on the development of my own company (not automotive) and am in the process of launching Sportrade. It is a very exciting time and I hope to have some more news soon.

Which side of the coast are you on, did you stay in California or did you go back to Toms River (hows that for a memory)
