Dan.  I have your solution.  I was a BDC Manager for 12 years in Chicago and certainly understand your situation.  What you need is a personal assistant that will engage your leads and hand them over when ready.  Also follow up with each and every lead to ensure none fall through the cracks and get all those notes back into the CRM.
