After reading some of the replies to Uncle Ralph's forum on the Chrysler dealers who lost their franchises I was tempted to commiserate with the dealers who, in my considered opinion, were illegally put out of business by an administration whose real agenda is only now coming to light. The illegal and unconstitutional actions that the administration took in the forced bankruptcy of Chrysler to subordinate preferred creditors interests in favor of the blatantly corrupt unions as "pay back" for buying votes through the illegal funding of Acorn, their related union - SEIU - and the UAW donations placed through the auto industry Czar appointed by Obama - that was formerly a democratic fund raiser - should be actionable. Frankly I am just getting started with what is wrong with what has happened to the Chrysler dealers and what is planned for the General Motors dealers that have sacrificed their american dream for the misguided agenda of a Facist government that was voted into office by a naive electorate who was mislead by our generation's version of Hitler!
Now that I have made my position and support for the dealers clear - and if I haven't please call me directly since I am sure that these comments will get me on the list for the concentration camps that are soon to follow for the "tea baggers" who dare to challenge our shift to socialism/marxism/facism and taxation with out representation - but, now to the point of this forum.
GET OVER IT! As the son of our previous generation's Hitler I recognize that Hitler's friends did very well during his reign. Of course the end game eventually showed that they were simply further down the list of casualties but at least they preserved a chance to live to fight another day. Those dealers that had their franchises stolen and handed to the administration's friend down the street are still alive and they need to act like it! New car profits, especially from Chrysler and GM, haven't been able to support a facility for over a year and the sales volume reflected by today's economy have compounded the problem. Auto Dealers are survivors and the good ones have already shifted their focus to Used Cars and fixed operations so my advice is to follow their lead - even though you may have been forced to do so - and see the glass as half full instead of empty.
Of course if you were one of those dealers that were extorted into building a new facility after turning down a Toyota dealership due to Chrysler's and/or GM's site control and/or if your new vehicle inventory represents over a 100 day supply because you decided to do your part to carry the burden of "your partner's" need to keep the Union busy building cars that you couldn't sell then you have a different set of options. Yes, there are still solutions for those who seek them!
I represent a venture capital firm, New Wave Automotive, LLC, , (N.W.A.), that is a diversity approved group of minority dealer operators with the funds and people to acquire your dealership in whole or in part. I have also linked this relationship with another company that I represent, Colliers Abood Wood-Fay Real Estate, - an International Commercial Real Estate office - with an auto industry division, Colliers Automotive Real Estate Services, (C.A.R.S.), that stands ready, willing and able to help those dealers whose site control contracts have likely now lapsed to sell their facilities for the highest and best use.
If you are a dealer forced to sell due to your current debt service perhaps a partnership with NWA will allow you to preserve your american dream. If you have lost your confidence in the retail auto industry and you want to cash in your chips there are dealer/operators out there with the funds to purchase your dealership and run it until the market returns; and it will!
Yes, for some it is time to get out of the car business but for others it is time to get in! Whichever one you are - I would like to help. After all, what are friends for!
