Recently there was an article about the twenty-one social media predictions and trends for 2011. One of them that really jumped out at me was number eight on the list. It said that “If you don’t have a mobile version of your site today, you are already behind.” So why do you need a mobile site? You’ve been putting it off but now is the time to get on it. Need more convincing?
With more and more phones coming out with a version of the mobile web, I believe it’s safe to say that soon all phones will have some sort of access to these mobile sites. It is clear that more people are trending to the mobile web for its convenience, and its availability. Americans are not only becoming more comfortable with using mobile sites, but also with purchasing from them.
Nice post............. yep........ I couldn`t agree more. I created our mobile sites almost 2 years ago & they rock! Remember..... not everyone has access to a lap top or desk top...... but they always have their phone! I told everyone on here last year that this will be bigger marketing tool than any form of social media in the next five years.... you`ll definitely do more business on your phone, i.e. service, sales, parts than you`ll ever do on Facebook!......you can bet the ranch on that one boys & girls! My recommendation........... utilize more of your energy developing your mobile marketing efforts in 2011 & less time on that black hole called Facebook....... Your ROI due to your mobile marketing efforts, will be significant in comparison.

You're right Joseph, this means that website optimization for mobile viewing is going to be more and more important. New social media apps like Facebook's "check-in" deals also provide businesses an opportunity to take advantage of this increase in mobile search.
