Justin, amongst the best advice I have received, and also one of my favorite American executive quotes is from William Wrigley, the guy who made his millions from chewing gum:
"If I have two vice presidents who agree on just about everything, then I have one too many vice presidents..."
Rather than suggesting a cost savings strategy, I believe what Mr. Wrigley was referring to is the value of a well informed discussion and debate in determining successful business strategies and tactics.
Excellent advice Ralph! Debate and dissent are the catalysts to proper judgement/decisions and innovation. Wrigley's wise words ring true today, especially in this political environment.
Craig, you speak the truth!
Thank you very much for you input. Tell your colleagues to add their insight and let's keep this discussion rolling.
Best advice I ever received:
"Don't assume customers want what we want, know what we know, or use the same language we do."
Wish I'd learned this sooner and remembered it more often.

Fantastic advice from everyone!
Keep it coming!
Very simple & basic advice I was taught very early:
"Remember where you came from."
Sad thing is how many people don't know either of them...
My grandfather told me the day I started with him to always remember the golden rule and always treat other people the way you would want to be treated. Have faith in your beliefs and believe in faith. They both have served me well.
Best business advice I ever got was...
"Do what you LOVE to do!"
"FOCUS YOUR MIND!"
