I am on the VIP invite list, however Google+ has not lifted the red rope to let me in :(.

Google has too much demand, and is telling invited users: “We've temporarily exceeded our capacity. Please try again soon.”

Here is a great video that reviews Google+ in detail:

You can sign up for a Google+ account here; however, you must have both a Gmail account and a Google profile.

I found this article on Search Engine Land,  that covers the potential benefits for Google+  and your dealership.

Google+ looks like a promising tool to help your dealership. In time, this will be an excellent place to connect and communicate with your current customers, as well as being a platform to prospect for new ones!

It will be interesting to see how successful Google+ is and what impact it has on the Facebook Advertising Juggernaut which recently passed Google, Yahoo and Microsoft for total annual digital display advertising revenue ($2.2 Billion).  Ultimately, despite Google's stated altruistic objectives, the real measure of success is economics driven by the adoption and utilization of the tools and environments offered in a project such as Google+.

I agree with your point, all is driven by revenue.   My gut tells me that Google “is in it to win it.”

Bottom line, Google has clearly taken 1st place with:

  1. Search engine
  2. Gmail
  3. YouTube

I have drunk the Google Koolaid, and believe a third time will be Google’s “charm” for social.

No one can deny that Google has the sufficient resources; both in brains and financial brawn.

I am still waiting for my invite to arrive via E-mail as I want to see what it is all about, how it can be adapted for business through the functions such as Live webcam chat which was shown in the promotion video.

The only thing that I am feeling apprehensive about is Google and the privacy of us the customers everytime that Google launch a new product they manage to expand their understanding of their consumers more and more. Facebook already adopt the stance that any pictures that you  upload to the site are officially owned by them after you upload them, so by creating this social media site Google are going to know consumers inside out and upside down. Good for business yet terrible for consumers privacy !

Thank you so much for sharing the video and additional links. It's exciting to see that this new social network isn't something dealers will need to be talked into, since some are already joining the site in its early stages. The circle idea definitely lends itself to work better with business interaction, as customers can better differentiate between their friends, family, and other interests, rather than updates getting lost amidst the maelstrom. But since actual 'business Pages' are in the works for Google+ it might be better for some dealers to hold off for that release, unless they like having a gender and being listed as 'Other'.
