If you were a start-up automotive digital consulting company looking to create awareness of your business, what conventions would you have a presence at, and what publications would you advertise in? As with most start-ups they are on a limited budget.

I am in the exact same shoes as what you describe. I have been doing well for a fairly new company. My company has been officially around for a little over a year. Aside from being at conferences, blogging, being in magazines, the important thing is to build relationships where your services can come highly recommended. Also, pound the pavement and prospect. There are a lot of consultants that try to do the same thing. You want to offer something unique. Also, build relationships with vendors where you can work together and they can recommend you. There has to be a win-win for everyone.
