Professional Community for Car Dealers, Marketing, Advertising and Sales Leaders
I wanted to introduce myself and my company to the forum. I am still a "pup" in the car industry. We have only been working with auto dealers over the past year. I founded "Oz General" a few years ago and we had wild success generating roofing and painting leads nation wide using our own house brewed software system.
I then met the GM of Lumpy's Auto Dealership here in Oklahoma City. His name is Jim Leonard. He asked me if I could use my software system to generate prospective auto leads. I had not really thought of expanding in this direction prior to meeting Jim.
Over the next several months I tailored the system to continue to meet the needs of the dealership. There were several months where it looked like it may not work out. Until one day Jim said to me...... "Can you not just make this damn phone ring"!!?
At that moment everything clicked for me. After months of trials and errors. Fail after fail. I had gotten so caught up in e-mailing, interfacing, bells, whistles, and analytics. All Jim wanted was for his phone to ring. I ran home that day and worked myself into a fever re tailored my software system. Oz Auto was born.
Ask Jim if his phone has stopped ringing.....It rings all day every day.....And now Jim has introduced me to all of you by inviting me to this forum. I am glad to be a part of this intelligent community. I will contribute, and I will give back.
"Built with a car dealer, for a car dealer".
Well........let's see how this industry works for Guy. After only logging on here 24 hours ago following a 2 YEAR hiatus, I was rather surprised to receive a cold call from Guy about an hour ago...on a Friday night of a holiday weekend!! Got to hand it to him for trying (I guess!!!!). Welcome to the group, Guy and good luck with your new venture. I just really do NOT like unsolicited sales calls from vendors but luckily, not everyone is as hard-ass as me! I've found what works best is to introduce yourself with a glowing report of what your company can/will do and make it interesting and exciting enough that the Dealers will come to you rather than this method of you pulling out names and phone numbers from the membership list and contacting them. But different strokes for different folks. I just tend to protect my privacy. But......happy hunting, Guy................Cherie
One piece of advice: You've simply GOT TO change that logo.....'built with a car dealer, for a car dealer". It doesn't cut the mustard......sincerely. K? Other than that, for all we know, you may be a BOY GENIUS!! ;)
Your last name should be Spice! I'm new to this ring, and it appears I need to learn how to punch! My mistake was that, someone had commented on a thread where you had previously said:
"So I'm looking for ANY suggestions on advertising, online or traditional. THANKS!! :)".
I happened to overlook the time stamp.
My phone call to you was at 4:30 pm. I thought car dealers were open past 5:00. And I've been told by the dealers that I do business with that "there are no HOLIDAYS"! Then again, as a pup to the industry, I could be mistaken.....
If you want to do it your way, here I am.... And I rarely have a problem "glowing"..... ;)
I'm open to suggestions about my slogan..... As I do happen to be a genius, I sometimes find it hard to appeal to the general consensus. You know my only friends are 1's and 0's.....
Everyone have a great weekend!
Wow. Welcome to the car business!
Hey Manny....I love you too ;)
So what happens to a response that someone spends 30 minutes writing, hits 'save' and waits and waits to figure out where in cyber space it landed? That's what happened to me last night which makes me hesitant in trying again, but perseverance is my middle name (comes between Cherie and SPICE....LOL)
I plead guilty to being just a wee bit harsh on Guy (reasons to follow) but we "kissed and made up" when he caught me in the chat window! As he says, he's a rookie and I have to admire his going forward without stopping at GO or collecting $200 as well as his ability to ignore verbal barricades!!...and I wish him success. The next time, however, he just might want to check the date when someone has a request so he doesn't respond to them two years later! All is forgiven.....
Not many people know (nor do they need to) that I don't keep the same hours as most of you. A severe physical disability requires that I work from an at-home office but trust me, my hours....and I pay very little attention to holidays unless I need that for ammo (ahem Guy!), hit from 5 to 15 daily, 7 days a week and not a day off or vacation in 4 years. So! I can get testy and am quite protective of my privacy in the few hours that "I" consider 'I'm OFF" so dam*it, leave me alone! I may not be in a brick and mortar location, but I am dedicated to the industry and my Dealer has 100% of my loyalty. You guys deserve better and more respectful attention than you're getting and it's time to educate not only the suits at places like carsdotcom and the Gurus, but the public. Aren't we all weary of the antiquated "used car salesman" bullying and tired of being the brunt of moronic jokes? Groups as large and influential as this one can do something about that.
OK....as I have no memory of WHAT I wrote last night (only that I did WRITE it), I'll end with.......all is well with Guy, I'm really not a witch but I am verbal! And...I've never sold anything either to someone who is 'just looking thank you'.
Have a fab and safe Memorial weekend and honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice so that we're all able to light up the BBQ grill. GOD BLESS AMERICA
