Hello everyone! The reason why I'm posting is because "I NEED HELP!". I've just been hired at my dealership to specificly be the internet sales manager. We are in a GREAT location so most of the sales are done in the showroom because of the heavy walk-in stats. My GM and other managers don't understand the basics of running a succesful internet dpt. I've got some of the product specialists helping me run the leads, although they don't have time to follow up with the inquiries because they get busy with showroom clients. Then what happens? ...We make a bad first impression on future sales, we lose appointments, and ultimately lose money in our pockets. I've been here for about 5 days now and I feel like I'm going in circles! Where do I even begin? My goal is to DOUBLE the amount of SOLD internet leads by next month. We can do it, we have the potential...I just don't know what task to do first. We are getting leads, but barely ANY...although we can't handle it yet. There needs to be some organization and I need some help! I know that we need help in the following areas: (I just don't know what resources to use)

-Email Templates

-Pictures for all cars + staff

-Better car desciptions

-Daily process

-ORGANIZATION

-...and then ULTIMATELY more leads need to be bought and then generated to the internet department.

There is a wealth of information stored in past articles on this community site so I would start by searching through some of the topics that you need help with first. You can also create a discussion and ask questions specifically or visit the sub-groups on ADM. The best minds of the industry share their expertise on ADM so start searching and ask questions.

You may want to also head down to AC for the Internet Battle Plan seminar lead by a team of experienced automotive digital marketing professionals that can set your mind at ease. Here is the link: http://www.dealerinternetbattleplan.com/
@Brian - Wow... I am both positively impressed and almost speechless... A professional recommendation without any bias towards self-gain or self-promotion... Truly, I am pleasantly surprised! After 30 years in the car business and digital "whatever" since 1986, this business continues to be full of lessons learned every day.
Hi Stan!

I'm well, busy start to my Monday morning :) Is there any way I could e-mail you from my hotmail account? I don't get a chance to check this site too often. Let me know!

Veronica
NOT ENOUGH. I need a good company to work with. Any ideas?
Veronica, my team at ADP Digital Marketing provides a full range of tools, training and services to get you the help you need. I recommend you start with a one time ADP Digital Marketing Consultant 2 day eBusiness Assessment visit. This would provide you with a review if all your existing processes and systems throughout the dealership, along with a detailed Gap Analysis and set of top priority recommendations. After the Assessment visit, you can elect to use ADP Digital Marketing services to fulfill your needs or feel free to shop around with other suppliers. If you want this done ASAP, send an email saying so to Jim Jensen, Director- ADP Digital Marketing Consulting Services at JJensen@bzresults.com or feel free to call me at my office using 480-421-5005

Sorry...I missed the link on my post...It's http://www.coolcarselling.com
Veronica... you have a challenge in front of you. Brian's advice of using this site (and others) as resources is a great start. You can look through Groups in each of the areas you listed above and see how others are dealing with the same problems. My suggestion is for you to sit down (away from ringing phones) and put together a Digital Marketing Plan. Set up a road map of what you would like to accomplish and determine step by step what you will need to get there. (Thinking smaller to start will limit the size of your mistakes) Process is important... Personalize your efforts. You will get more for less. Be careful of getting sucked into less productive time consuming tasks (taking pictures of cars and descriptions). My feeling is your primary goal is to justify you (and your department's) existence by generating car buying leads. Good Selling! DTG
Veronica--

Some tips that we've learned after working with an Internet Marketing firm for quite some time now:

-Utilize Constant Contact for email marketing. Work with a graphic design company or Internet Marketing firm with graphic design capabilities to create some custom templates that represent your business.

-Pictures: hire a professional photographer to do good looking shots of your facility, your team, etc. Invest in a good camera, tripod and photography equipment so that you can get quality pictures of your cars for proper advertisement. Maybe even take some photography classes or such

-For car descriptions, I know this may sound like over-kill, but reach out to a local freelance writer or copyrighter. They get paid to write for a living and are successful because they are good wordsmiths. You won't be disappointed as your ads and copy will now start to really sound better

-As for organization...way too many things to mention here. Find a system that works for you.

-Incorporate a blog on your website and invest in Social Media. Don't go get a Facebook page just to have one...learn how to use it as a tool that can help grow your business.

-As far as leads, make SURE that there is a way/person to answer every lead in a timely manner. At least acknowledge receipt of their correspondence.

Hope this helps. Would love to share some ideas with you regarding what we've done with Internet Marketing if I can be of help.

Hello My Name is Dan Carmen I've been a GM in Portland Oregon since 1998. I read your forum and I'm excited to tell you about a product I've been using since Dec of 2009 called triadquickleads.com this is the most rocking bang for your dollars lead source I've ever dealt with and they help you make car deals..Last 2 months I've made over 30+ deals and have documentation to proof it !!! Feel free to call me any time at 503-740-1221 I love talking about this product!
Hi Veronica, thanks for your post. Sounds like you have your hands full! The good news is that you can get this job done, however you need to prioritize. There are limits to your time. Get with the person who hired you and ask them specifically what is expected of you and your department. If you need to.. ask them for help. I am not sure what your background is however the person who hired you for this position must have had a reason to do so.
I would sit down and assess your department's current condition. How many reps, how many leads, how many sales, how many appointments, from what sources. Until you know exactly where you are you won't be able to execute an action plan to reach your goals. Feel free to call me if you wish.....I have been down the same road as you before....Alex Kraenkel, Internet Director, Weir Canyon Honda Acura, Anaheim, CA. 714-779-3291. Thanks!
