Have dealers ever really looked at their websites and all the stuff that is on these pages? ISMs, I know you are looking but are you seeing.

I'd like to hear from you about what content, buttons, functionality you think is dumb, not working properly, or items that need to be re-tweaked so they provide a better user experience.

This is your chance to let it all out, and rant about these things that really bug you.

What really bugs me about my website is that our whole inventory is just an I-Frame. Making it almost impossible to link someone to a singular car without taking them completely off my website. I know the debate about dynamic URL's for inventory is still in full swing but at least the people that do have a URL to give someone when they want to look at a specific vehicle. I mean really, I have a website, but its really a border with somebody else's website in it.

David, an I-framed-in inventory solution is a not only a horrible user experience but terrible for SEO. The engines will not follow an I-frame. It's serious enough to consider a new solution.

We've been working on solutions to our problem. Creating content rich pages on our website is our main goal right now. I had been pushing for a different provider for a long period of time but higher ups in our company are some of the original shareholders in the company that provides our website. Its a sticky situation but we are doing our best to get around it.

This was the main reason I dumped reynolds web solutions and went with Dealer.com 4 years ago.

Worst I have seen in a while. I use it all the time... "Whatever you do... don't do this!"

Not only is it one of the worst websites I've ever seen, but that intro is just Hilarious!

Yep, glad you pointed this out. The link to the specials page has no specials. Wow, how dumb is that!

That is my favorite website of all time. It's so bad, it's good. Not for customers but to make me laugh anytime I'm frustrated.

Is having the address of the dealership on the website important? Can you find the address on this site?

From trial and errors over the past 5 years developing our website, one of our best practices that we found was to have each respective manager be responsible for their own department within our website. Each week we report to our General Manager on our respective departments together with what our immediate competition is doing well and poorly. We we surf other websites nationwide and we bring to the table on a weekly basis at a Manager's Meeting what we can do improve our Website. That is always a point on our weekly Manager's Meeting Agenda. It is definately continual growth in a very fast evolving industry. Since we have developed this process within the last 6 months it has really worked for us. Not that we are perfect, but we are definately better then we were and we will continue to improve. The worst is to have a specials section and not any specials, or listing print adds that are weeks old. That is just embarassing and I would write up any of my managers who were not keeping on task.
