I'm interested in hearing feedback on what people are expecting, & have been told to expect, w/regards to your own conversion ratios for your site contact forms.

Standard retail/eCommerce sites typically have contact benchmarks of 1.5% - 3%; 5% is considered excellent.

What's your thoughts on an appropriate Automotive benchmark? Our testing has produced CR's anywhere from 1.5% to 10% - for various types of contact forms.

If you can stand the agony of sitting through a case study video I made while working at Reynolds that is on this site you will see that in this consulting engagement a big part of what we did to increase leads and sales was focused on web forms optimization. We used a web site content management system that Reynolds provided back in those days to completely change all our online lead forms at Toyota of Kirkland, WA. The list we got from the increased form completion rates was significant and it was the first time I saw direct results of Dealer Web Site Forms Optimization, which I have been doing on a case by case basis ever since.
