I am curious as to how everyone out there is utilizing Craigslist. Their website is one of the most viewed on the Internet. Problem is they don't allow batch uploading listings like most other automtive classified websites.

Is anyone have success with Craigslist and how are you creating your listings? Are you doing them manually one at a time or are you using some software to help streamline it?

Chris I am sorry I don't appear civil and that was not my intention to be uncivil. I have to work on that sometimes I appear that way and it is not intentionally.

The way it appeared in how you asked it and coming from a quasi competitor, now, how else was I to view the request.

To sum it up though the dealer that has seen 4 x the resuls saw only 6 calls from autotrader all month in November and 26 from Craigslist. Autotrader was all month craigslist was from the 17th of November.

I now have several dealer on the platform and will have more quantifiable results over a larger mix at the end of December and even larger sampling at the end of the first quarter.

I am just surprised that visolutions has not done the same type of analysis, and your sampling should be a lot larger than mine at this point.

BTW Our craigslist product are not similar they are the exact same and I am partnering with another organization to provide lead anylitics which will help measure the true value of all online advertising and lead acquisition sources.

A personal attack was not issued and I do apologize if it appeared that way
Paul, as you know, words in a text form, are usually taken just how they are typed and sometimes worse.....what was that suppose to mean, is he trying to say, etc, etc. But no worries now, thanks for the response.

Paul, I would hope even though we are now "competitors", all is well. The fact that we both have a craigslist tool for dealers and they will sell more cars using it, helps us both. As we all know there are many products out there for dealers that don't help them sell more cars. For the vendors that have great products that will help dealers sell more cars, there is more than enough business for everyone and some, in a down market or otherwise. Please view my comments or posts just as they are - sharing information with dealers to help them sell more cars. If "we" can show dealers that having a craigslist tool will most definitely help them sell more cars, "we", "competitors", will see tons more business.

My main focus is more on how to best utilize the tools to sell more cars. When the calls start coming in, what is the best way to handle the call? What phone script works best? Is someone calling via craigslist, ebay, AutoTrader, etc the same caller looking for the same thing? You know as well as I do that they can be very different callers indeed. I am really focusing right now on helping dealers utilize and make the best of what they are already using. How to get the most out of their AT account, cars account, ebay account, CRM, ILM, Inventory Management, etc. That's my main focus.

Yes, of course. VinSolutions has TONS of data from a large customer base of dealers that is growing fast every month of people using the craigslist tool, CRM, ILM, Inventory Management, ebay, etc, etc, I was just asking you for additional info on your post - that's all.

Exact same, cool.

Yes, the words that were used, I very much felt that way. Thanks for clearing things up and keep moving forward!

Gentlemen, Is all the hostility necessary? :-)

Chris, I am one of Paul's clients and can confirm his findings.
Hello Andy,

Everything is cool now. I didn't mean to come across as questioning his findings (I don't doubt them in the least), I had just asked for more details on his post. And to your point, we then both had to clear up the way we were "speaking" to each other and our intentions :-) Its in the past now. Thanks Andy, point taken.
So you are advising people to violate photobuckets TOS:

.... direct commercial endeavors may only be used if they are specifically endorsed or authorized by Photobucket.

Thanks for politely pointing that out to me Paul. Or was that another "I am sorry I don't appear civil and that was not my intention to be uncivil. I have to work on that sometimes I appear that way and it is not intentionally." that you mentioned earlier?

Thank you. I should have read their terms more closely.

P.S. Believe it or not Paul, I am just trying to help salespeople sell cars.
I know you are. It is a violation of their TOS though. We just have to be careful when we advise people on how to do thing they are not setting themselves up for failure.

Sorry you took it personally but more was said in less than 15 words than could of possible been said in the caution to not use photobucket to advertise commercially on craigslist.
Point taken. Thank you.

I don't want to keep this going because I don't think it will lead to anything remotely constructive but I do need to ask.

Do you feel your comment was not directed to be personal?
To answer your question no it was not designed to be personal, just to prevent people from following ill given advice. The only reason you posted that was not to help it was to drop links to vinsolutions. I see through it, others see through it.

Actually I see it as marketing tactic. Ingenious but spammy. I will not dissect it here.

You can call me at or hit me on gtalk parushing other than that I will not waste any more of my personal bandwidth on this thread.
Paul, it was not a "marketing tactic". In this case I wasn't selling anything but that being said many people market their products here. In fact, earlier in this post you put your email, phone number, website link and cost of what you were selling for posting on craigslist.

I had one intention and one intention only and that was to give someone else a way to post that couldn't afford a craigslist posting tool which is very important right now. That's all. Yes, I had one link to VinSolutions on that post. In fact, Ralph mentioned the fact of posting links and pictures that link to ones website.

Yes that would be great, I will take you up on that as I would like to chat with you.
